Where does the tour begin and where do I park?
The tour begins at the A-Frame building connected to the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church parking lot located at 125 E. High St.
Attendees may park in the designated spots in the church parking lot. Additionally, free and metered parking is located behind the H.U. Coble House (33 E. High St), or in the public lot behind Groff’s Meats.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time so you can check in and join the tour group and guide. Winters Heritage House Museum has several exhibits to enjoy while you wait for your departure.
How long does the tour last?
The whole tour will last 90 minutes: 60 minutes of walking (with 2 seat breaks along the way)
and 30 minutes in the Coble house for refreshments and a traditional dance demonstration.
How do I get tickets?
For online sales, go to www.wintersheritagehouse.org, then go to our events page. You will be able to register and purchase your tickets online. You may also purchase tickets in person at Winters Heritage House Museum during their regular operating hours.
Do I need to purchase tickets ahead of time?
Yes. All tickets need to be purchased ahead of time. There are no walk-in ticket purchases.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are $25. Winters Heritage House Museum members receive a $5 discount during the member presale August 21 – August 26. Consider becoming a member and support Winters Heritage House Museum today! Memberships begin at $25 annually.
Do you accept personal checks and credit cards?
Credit Cards are accepted online through the Winters Heritage House website’s booking platform. Tickets may be purchased in person via check or cash during Winters Heritage House Museum’s regular operating hours.
Do you accept groups and are there group rates?
Yes, groups of up to 12 people are welcome. Each tour group is limited to 12 guests. You may purchase tickets for a group; however, it will not be a private tour and will not be discounted.
If I cannot attend after purchasing a ticket, can I get a refund?
We are sorry we cannot offer a refund once you have purchased your tickets. We will honor a ticket transfer. If you purchased your tickets online, you may print or forward the tickets you received in your e-mail address to someone else. If you purchased in person, please e-mail Contact@WintersHeritageHouse.org with the name and phone number of the person you are giving your tickets to before 3 p.m. on Friday, October 24
Is there a rain date?
This is a rain-or-shine event unless lightning occurs. In the case of severe weather that endangers volunteers or visitors, the event will be cancelled and you will be given the option to reschedule (if spaces available) or receive a refund.
Is the tour pet-friendly?
No, however, service animals are permitted. Thank you for understanding.
Is the tour suitable for children?
The walking tour is recommended for ages 12 and older. This is a great tour for history-loving kids this age!
How can I sign up to be an actor or tour guide on the tour?

Will the actors and tour guides be in costumes?
Yes, each lantern tour guide will be dressed in a historical costume.
Should I wear a costume?
It’s not required that guests wear costumes, but we would love it!
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather and sneakers or other comfortable, closed-toe shoes that you are able to walk in for the entire length of the tour. Those who choose to wear historical costumes or accessories will receive a complimentary gift!
Should I bring a flashlight?
Most locations and sidewalks will be well lit; however, a flashlight or cell phone light isn’t a bad idea.
Will food be available?
At the end of each tour, we will have light, historically inspired refreshments. We suggest you plan on eating before or after the tour. There are several great eateries in the downtown area to choose from.
Are there restrooms available during the tour?
Yes, you will have access to a bathroom at the end of the tour.
Is the tour ADA or stroller accessible?
We will mostly be on sidewalks and crossing streets in crosswalks. Due to the nature of historic buildings, most would not be wheelchair or stroller accessible when the tour group is invited inside.
Is there an ATM available?
There is an ATM approximately 2 blocks away.
Can I take pictures during the tour?
Yes, we encourage you to take and post pictures. If you post them on social media, please tag us @wintersheritagehousemuseum and use hashtag #EtownsLanternTour so we can see them too, and for a chance to win a surprise gift!
Can I take a video?
Yes, however, please keep them at 10 seconds or less per clip. Let’s keep the mystery of the lantern tour for our future visitors!
